The Corelation, an executive search firm in India

The right person in the wrong room underperforms. We read the room before we fill it.

The Corelation runs search across industries and functions, and we read fit on four things rather than one: capability, culture, company stage, and compatibility with the leader the role reports to. The fourth is where most hires are quietly won or lost, and it is the one almost nobody searches for.

The four Cs of fit, and where most searches stop

The deeper the layer, the more it shapes the outcome, and the less often anyone looks at it

What most searches screen

  1. Capability Can they do the work. The entry ticket, not the differentiator.
  2. Culture How this company decides, debates and rewards. Usually asked loosely.

Where the difference lives

  1. Company stage Build from zero, or run what exists. A skill, and rarely screened.
  2. Compatibility Will they do their best work under this leader. Where hires are won or lost.
Fit runs both ways: a leader also does their best work with the right person beside them.

The point of view

Most searches read the role carefully and the relationship barely at all.

A brief describes a job. It rarely describes the person the hire will report to: how they decide, how much room they give, whether they want a builder or a finisher, what they know they need covered. So the search optimises against an incomplete picture, and the mismatch surfaces a few months in, usually labelled as culture.

Capability is the entry ticket. By the time a shortlist reaches a hiring manager, most of the people on it can do the job, and screening harder on skills adds little from that point. The difference in how they go on to perform comes from everything underneath, and that part is usually left to a single interview and a feeling.

Company stage is a skill in its own right. Someone excellent in a structured, well-resourced organisation can struggle where nothing exists yet, and the reverse is just as true. A CV will not show it. A good conversation will. So we brief the hiring manager before we brief the market, and we read every candidate against that brief.

How the work runs, step by step

Who we work with

Leadership mandates across industries, for companies hiring in India.

We work on mid-senior to leadership mandates: functional leadership, CXO roles and niche specialist hires, across industries, for companies hiring in India. Our first-hand depth is in consumer businesses, from consumer goods and FMCG to retail and e-commerce, health and wellness, consumer-facing services, and Indian businesses building for the world.

Where a search calls for deep domain knowledge, we bring in senior operators from that field, people who have held the role themselves, to assess alongside us. It is how a small firm reaches real depth across categories.

Behind the firm

The founder spent a decade inside consumer businesses before building The Corelation: hiring people, being hired, and watching capable hires struggle for reasons that had nothing to do with their ability. About the founder
